Please Make Me Pretty, I Don't Want to Die: Poems
by Tawanda Mulalu
inspiring
reflective
fast-paced
I really resonated and enjoyed Mulala's voice and style of writing in his poems. There is a distinct style that I found very inspiring and great. Themes of personhood, isolation, loneliness, connection, and many other more prominent topics.
Some of my favorite poems from this collection: "Elegy (I have bitten down on the chameleon in my throat)", "Hamlet Tries Prozac", "All we Got was Autumn. All We Got Was Winter.", "Forgiveness Rock Record", "Elegy (from weather.)", "Third Sonnet", "Vertebrae", and "Clarity".
