The Kingdom of Gods
by N.K. Jemisin
You know when you get two great books in a trilogy you get a little scared wondering how in the world will the author, give enough story to keep things interesting, and yet still give closure without leaving readers feeling bereft in the third book.
N.K. Jemisin to my mind is one of the greatest story tellers of our time. In this third book, she gave us a stand alone story that was built upon the strengths developed in the first two books. Confused? Let me elucidate. While the characters are those you learn about in books one and two, the development and story arc in book 3 is an independent mind blowing adventure that takes you further than book one or two can prepare you to go.
Well crafted, captivating, and unexpected maturity in some miserable but beloved people from the earlier books give you the sense of how well this author must know people and how time and life can change them for the better, if given the chance.
I loved it. I lost myself in this story and I cannot wait for more adventures from this world as I sense there must be more telling to do. There HAS to be right? *hoping for more*
