challenging informative sad

It took me years to finish this book. As a Black American, this was a very tough, but necessary read. I cried multiple times and felt so angry throughout my time reading this. The more I learn about the awful things done to my people historically, the more angry I get, but I also gain even more appreciation for the strength and resilience of our ancestors. They should never have had to be that strong, but I’m grateful that they were because we wouldn’t be here today without them.

Although this is a harrowing read, it should be required reading for literally EVERYONE. Especially, those studying to go into the medical field. I’m grateful that this book is available as a historical resource because most of the time, our history gets buried.

Add this book to your reading list IMMEDIATELY, but prepare to be angry and cry your eyes out.
