The town is delightfully oddball, complete with endearing townsfolk, a bald eagle named Goose who has a penchant for tricking people, and a strong sense of found family. Cam’s large, tight knit family stole the show for me—I already want books about his brothers!

As for the romance, it took me a bit to warm up to the chemistry between Hazel and Cam. Hazel is easy to love—witty, determined, and full of heart. Cam, on the other hand, takes the grump factor very seriously, which made him harder to connect with at first. But once he starts falling? Oh, it’s game over. The tension, the reluctant softening, and the undeniable pull between them kept me hooked.

With a just right level of spice, Story of My Life is a slow burn, fake dating, opposites attract romance that delivers plenty of banter, heart, and sweet moments. If you’re a fan of small town rom coms with a grumpy sunshine trope done right, this one’s perfect!
