Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture
by Roxane Gay
It feels wrong to rate my perception and feelings towards a book that's full of trauma. As far as books about rape and rape culture go, this one is an example of how to do it correctly. It gives survivors (if they prefer that term) a chance to use their own voice and write their own narrative, instead of well-meaning supporters writing it on their behalf. Roxane Gay never fails to amaze me with how she uses the platform that she's worked so hard to build for herself.
This book is the most important thing I've read thus far in 2018, and while it wasn't an easy read I can say it was definitely worth it.
