On the Way to the Wedding by Julia Quinn
3.0

So this story started a bit slow for my taste. At chapter nine things finally started happening. We meet some old familiar faces, like Kate, Anthony and Colin, which was lovely, but there wasn’t enough of the latter two in my opinion. I think it’s obvious that of all the siblings’ books in the series, I liked theirs best.

Now the romance is a very slow burn, which I’m all for. I loved how Lucy and Gregory gradually warmed to each other and that Lucy wasn’t the woman Gregory first falls in love with. And I genuinely liked Gregory as a character, I can forgive him being naive in the beginning. And I have to commend him for his perseverance. He never gives up, which shows a lot of character.

The villain is like a proper villain, very nasty and shrewd. And there are actual high stakes. This made the ending of the story feel more tangible and credible, even though the plot wasn’t particularly realistic.

Naturally, I do have some complaints, as I always do with these books
