I loved this book! It took me an oddly long time to read it, but I’m wondering if that’s because I subconsciously knew I wanted to savor it. Minnie is one of the strongest, most-likable, somewhat relatable, and fun protagonist I’ve read in this genre. We really root for her and Quinn to find happiness and fulfillment (~and love~) throughout the book. The parents are all wonderfully written and the Leila the best friend is an original. There is nothing cliche about any of the characters, and I really felt like I knew them early on. Sophie Cousen’s writing was so smart and clever, it kept me engaged even when I was only reading 10 pages a night. The missed connections were so exciting! I remember her literary allusions and her imagery feeling so organic and excitingly fresh. I cannot wait to read whatever she writes next. The cheesy genre tropes are written in such a self-aware manner that the reader feels in on the joke. This book is the 2020 we all wish we could have lived. {I’d be remiss to omit, I did get really excited that the entry on October 20th had the word “peed” in it!}

tl;dr: somehow a totally non-cliched novel with a cheesy concept. I need to find my love twin!
