nikereadsbooks 's review for:
The Deathless Girls
by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
medium-paced
Loveable characters:
Complicated
things i enjoyed:
- the romance between lil and mira was nice, even though it was pretty sudden in my opinion. they clicked together nicely and i liked when the story focused on them for a second
- the writing style was enjoyable
and now the bad:
- the story takes place in romania and all the characters speak the language, so i don't see the point of using extra words in romanian when they are not needed. it just made the italized words look out of place
- for a book about the vampire brides, the lack of vampires (until 70% of the book) was weird
- the pact with dracul (both izzy's and lil's) felt too easy to obtain, the girls were put through horror but you're telling me this is where the author draws the line?
- empty ending, like wtf happened there???
- just like with the language, the research of romani culture felt too shallow
