There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said, and by more eloquent people than myself. But I'll try anyway. This book is excellent. Even setting aside its cultural relevance and timeliness, this book is funny, heart-warming, honest, charming, and extremely well-written. It's characters feel so real and the pacing is flawless.

But it is also shining a light on the things we don't want to admit to ourselves when we watch the news (okay, okay, when we check Twitter). It feels very modern, and while the plot is predictable, it is only predictable because we've heard this story so many times already.

This book isn't a call to action that you can say you don't have time or the ability for-- it's a call to pay attention to the people around you and your own prejudices. It asks you to open your eyes and speak up. It's a call to rebuild.
