Overall I really enjoyed reading this book, I liked the worldbuilding, the story kept me captivated and I wanted to keep reading, though there were also some details that irked me a bit.
Mainly it was the 'sex/romance' storyline between Agnieszka and Sarkan. It felt a bit like an afterthought, 'oh yeah, we need some of that in this book or people won't like it, lets apply it to them' and all that while there was so much more between Agnieszka and Kasia. If someone told me that had been the original storyline, but it had to be altered to make it less gay and more 'mainstream' I wouldn't be surprised :P
(and yes, of course the friendship between Kasia and Nieshka like is nice too, good friendships are great, it just seemed like there could be more, but no, magic-sharing-induced-lust happened and bleh :P They did grow to like each other more as the book progressed, but still, no, it didn't add to the story for me.)
Aside from that, hanging around with writers has made me do what school never could: look at the way a book was written, the storybuilding and choices and stuff, and I don't know if I like it XD I used to just enjoy the story, but now my brain goes analyzing stuff and ugh, don't think I'm happy with that...
