Maskerade by Terry Pratchett

funny lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

This is one of the witches books of Discworld.  Its been a while since I have read any Discworld novel and the nice thing about Pratchett's world is that you can pick up any of the novels and enjoy them in any order.  At least once you've read the first few books to understand the world and some of the most important characters that tend to show up again and again  (rincewind and the unseen University, the luggage, the witches, the guards, death and the death rat, the librarian).

In this particular take on all things operatic we follow witches Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax as they find themselves in a situation that feels surprisingly similar to Phantom of the Opera.

Much hilarity ensues.

The narration is fun with special guest appearances from Bill Nighy as Death and Peter serafinowicz as The Footnotes.

Not the best of the Discworld lot but a fun ride nevertheless.
