This was kind of a toxic mess, but I really liked it? I'm sort of conflicted because I think there were things that were problematic but overall, it was a good story that sucked me in. I think the chapters where Phoenix and Lennon were young were great, but the present chapters were a bit lacking and unrealistic and just a HOT MESS. Phoenix did and said so many things that are unforgivable and I'm not sure what Lennon was thinking. Also, kudos to the author for plus size representation and the struggles that come with that, but when Lennon is older and loses weight, suddenly everyone loves her and everything is fine? I wasn't really okay with that. Also, this is an extremely long contemporary romance novel, clocking in at nearly 700 pages (which no romance novel should be) and I felt like the author was just looking at things to throw in there to fill up the plot. Sure, the smut was hot but it felt like a bad taste in the mouth when these two were such a toxic combination. That BIG thing he does to her would be off putting enough for anyone else, but for them to get a happy ending? I'm not so sure about that.
