I just wasn't feeling this one tbh. While I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter has the potential to be good it didn't grab me in the first 70 pages.

I found the writting style a bit too plain for my liking. There was just no emotion being conveyed through diction or structure. While I'm not usually too picky about these things I feel more character centered books should make me feel the emotions the characters are feeling.

I also wasn't a fan of our main character Julia. She is annoying and self-centered to the max and I know this was done intentionally to show growth by the end of the book, but it wasn't fun to read. If I wanted a story about an angsty self-centered teen I'd just re-watch The Edge of Seventeen.

I might give this one a go in the future cause I think this is a case of wrong book at the wrong time.
