The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
3.0
challenging dark emotional sad tense medium-paced

I’m surprised at how this very famous woman was actually trapped by her own family even as she was performing all around the world. The concept of “conservatorship” seems to be so backwards and regressive; I’m surprised it is even legal. That said, I personally dislike the idea of people writing books to vent their personal grievances. Britney herself mentions how terrible she felt about her sister writing a book - why did Britney feel the need to do the same? Perhaps to state her case, to put out her version of events to the public. Nonetheless, this book read like a list of complaints against everyone who ever wronged her. I feel for Britney, but I do not like such venom-filled memoirs.
