Doctor Sleep is the sequel we didn’t know we wanted. Now an adult, Daniel Torrence is suffering from many of the demons of his past. The shining has stayed with him all these years and doesn’t help matters. Like his father, he found a liquid solution. But all that is about to change thanks to a little girl that’s as bright a lighthouse. He’s also about to discover there’s much more evil in the world than he ever imagined.
The first time I tried to read this book, I stalled out. When I picked it up for April Adaptations (an obvious next choice after finishing The Shining), I cannot for the life of me remember why it was a DNF the first time around. This is more than just a thriller. It’s a story of redemption and a classic good vs evil story with a twist. And as someone who’s daydreamed about what happened to her favorite literary characters, it’s nice to know what happened to one of them.
