Under Fortunate Stars
by Ren Hutchings
This was such an interesting premise, I really enjoyed it.
It's hard to say a lot about the plot of this book without spoiling it - I feel it is better to go into it with minimal idea of what will happen beyond what is stated in the blurb. I will say that I have a favourite type of time travel story and this did it very well. I also really enjoyed seeing the differences between the historical records and the real people depicted in them.
I will say that I predicted more than one twist well before they occurred. For a sci-fi story that is more about people than science, I also wish that I had felt a stronger emotional connection to some of the characters - I suspect that could have propelled the book into five star territory.
Overall this was an engrossing book which I didn't really want to put down.
