<strong>Simple & cute </strong>
A simple and cute retelling for an easy graphic novel read. Definitely doesn’t feel like it has the depth of even the films in a lot of ways as it boils complicated things down to base emotions - Mary is just a mean girl instead of a grief-stricken orphan shuttled to a new place where she’s basically alone, Colin is a spoiled boy always throwing fits instead of a boy with health problems who is overprotected by his father and servants and doctors yet also neglected by his father, and Master Craven is just mean instead of a man unable to deal with the loss of his wife and that possible impending loss of his son. . . Like these are complicated things you see more of I feel that you get less of here.
The art was gorgeous though and it’s definitely a sweet tale. It has lots of hope and love.
