4.5 stars. I enjoyed it even more than the Fifth Season. The world building was effortless in the first book, but now that it is done and that we have two narratives instead of three, it just flows. Jemisin is a great writer and I very much enjoyed the various characters’ arcs. Except maybe Alabaster, but I suspect the third book will help here, we’ll see.

Nevertheless, a great read, and I’m not usually a fantasy fan. Although, I might be a science fantasy fan and I didn’t even know it until now!
