I listened to this on audiobook and I would highly recommend it to nearly anyone even mildly interested in political theory or history. I cannot claim that listening to it on audiobook is better than reading a traditional paper book, since I was not able to get a hold of a paper book. However, I can recommend it in a general sense. I think it would be an excellent read for anyone even remotely interested in the abolition of slavery, civil rights, agriculture, business, Russian history, European history, or industrialization. This book touches on all of those topics in a highly effective way. The book manages to address a variety of issues with surprising ease, including the problems with hourly wage, the idiocy behind the typical definition of “laziness”, and the problems inherent in the division of labor. There are a few small annoyances for modern readers, mainly the use of certain outdated terms that may be seen as offensive by some people- “invalid”, for example. However, I find it extremely unfortunate that people view this as a book to be read almost exclusively by anarchists or communists. I found that much of the content in this book would applicable in a variety of other political or economic senses and that it would likely be interesting to a variety of people.
