I am not a huge poetry fan. It's never been my thing, neither poems or books/plays in verse. During my English degree I found that I didn't like some individual poems and was lost likely to enjoy the Romantic poets' works, but it's still never my go to. That said, I've always enjoyed the concept of blackout poetry (where you take an existing piece of writing and choose individual words to create your own poem, blacking everything else out). I did it with the teens who came to my program during freedom to read week back when I did that, and had a friend who utilized the practice for his own creations. Someone recommended this book and I was thrilled to find out that it was blackout poetry created from comments on the internet, some good comments or messages but many rude or worse. Baer first printed the message in whole and then the beauty she found within in through the creation of a blackout poem. I loved it!
