I liked this concept a lot, but it could have been so much better if the author took more time to develop the world aND the characters. As it is, I didn't get to know Caleb, John or anyone elsr in a meaningful way. This resulted in a rather apathetic reaction to

Melanie's betrayal and Caleb's subsequent need for sex with John to cement his humanity.
