Reading about the lesbian community at times pre/early 2000s is always very enjoyable to me, to see how far we've come and also how we were. Bechdel's work feels like an area where I get to see butch characters, which I miss in a lot of media. Not only that, but butches and lesbians who are different and proud and full people. I also really enjoyed getting to learn more about Bechdel herself, as I always hear about her work but not much of her as a person. I got to see some DTWOF comics I've never seen, and some that I already love. I especially loved the ending with letters from readers, to see how others were affected by and enjoyed DTWOF during its peak.
