The Sun Down Motel
by Simone St. James
This book kept me guessing about what had happened to Vivian. I kept changing my theories as more clues were introduced. I liked getting to see Vivian and Carly’s perspectives while they worked out what happened in Fell. I wanted to know more about certain side characters, like Heather. The rules surrounding the ghosts had holes, but if you don’t focus on those holes the ghosts add an extra intriguing touch to the story.
The language and the writing style was great! Simone St. James did a wonderful job of painting the scene and making me feel like I was there with the characters. This author is fantastic at including all five senses in my visual picture within 1-2 sentences. The way that she explored women listening to their intuition was very powerful. The Sun Down Motel pulled me in from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.
