In the Key of Nira Ghani
by Natasha Deen
I'm disappointed I've heard so little about this book. It was wonderful and I don't like contemporaries. I can't speak to the authenticity of the character being first-generation in an immigrant family but I also think a lot of the conflicts are just something a lot of people can relate to. Warning though, don't read this book if you're grieving loss though. It threw me and sent me to a breakdown because of my headspace.
