I am still love hating these books. I struggle with the writing style still. I get annoyed with the way some of the characters talk and think. But I am getting used to it. Some parts I get bored. Some parts I am captivated. Some I am angry I am not getting any answers after reading 2000 pages and at the next turn I'm just breathless with goosebumps because of the little crumbs that make me wonder.

I cannot help but compare these to her Highlander historical romance series and find it lacking. I prefer her writing in those, I prefer sexual tension in those.

I keep hearing the good stuff is coming and I am holding out for it. But sometimes I am worried the pay off won't be worth it.

Wanted to add a steam note: I had this at a 1 steam. There is a section that has a lot of sex for Mac but it's very light, it's not detailed or explicit. You get little snippets here and there but due to the lack of details and emotional pull I marked it as a 1 steam.

Why 5 stars? Because this one really did tug on my emotions and really engage me. I did not want to stop reading and stayed up way too late to finish it.
