I am SO glad to have finally dusted off this book and given it a shot! It’s been on my book shelf for soooo long but it’s finally read!

I feel like Vampires are going to be making a come back. If they do and you are looking for a great vampire book then look no further! I really enjoyed this one and I was so surprised.

This is a really dark book and at times it was a bit intense. The vampires rule in this world and humans are pretty much their slaves. Allie refuses to be around them and has to scavenge to live. She despises vampires and all they stand for. One night things go wrong and she has to make a decision… die or become what she hates most?

I really enjoyed so many of the characters in this book. Honestly, there’s SO much mystery wrapped around all of them that I can’t wait to find out more. I really am curious about Allie’s past with her mom. Her growth in this book though was so awesome. I loved bada$$ Allie at the end! Her struggle to tow the line throughout the book makes it so intense. You really are rooting for her but you don’t know that she can live up to it! I’m really looking forward to seeing/learning more about the Jackal, even if he is a villain.. or is he?

The world building was so good. The details and the way that I could imagine what things looked liked were great. Sometimes it was too good and I was so creeped out about the rabids. I definitely ran from up the stairs when I turned out the lights for a few nights. haha.

The romance in this book is a slow burn and I’m not really sure that I love it. I don’t know how much I really like that Zeke is so perfect. It just felt a little forced and I didn’t really get a spark from them. I totally felt like they could be just friends and I would be 100% okay with that. I guess, I’ll have to see what happens in the next book. Will he win me over?

Overall, this was a great read for me. I was surprised that I would like it so much because I didn’t LOVE her fae series. This is definitely a lot darker and a step up. I think I’ve missed reading about vampires!
