You honestly can’t convince me I didn’t just read about literal soulmates. This is probably one of my new favorite romance books of all time! Not only is Emily Henry’s prose so engaging, but the way she writes her characters and relationships has me hooked the entire time.

People We Meet on Vacation is a summery angsty second chance romance between two ex best friends, Poppy and Alex. Poppy and Alex had been taking vacations together every year, until their friendship fell apart along with their vacations. Poppy misses Alex deeply and convinces him to take another vacation after a few years of silence so they can repair their relationship. But as their vacation goes on, their past clouds their future. We slowly start to figure out what really ended Poppy and Alex’s relationship years ago, and how the past will influence their futures.

Everything about this book was perfection. The incoordination of flashbacks and the present really set the overall tone of the story, and instantly had me intrigued. Both Poppy and Alex were also such compelling characters to read about, both on their own and together. You could also see how these two really loved each other, from the beginning of their relationship, right to the new beginning of it. They were so sweet, and the flashbacks really enhanced my love for these two.

This audiobook was also perfect! I’ve listened to so many audiobooks by this narrator (Julia Wayland) now, and I’ve loved everything she’s done. I really adored this book, and I will be thinking about Poppy and Alex forever.
