Wanna Play a Game?
by Alina May
"Wanna Play a Game" introduces us to the first characters: the three MMCs Sawyer, Miles (ex-military), and Ryder. What makes this immediately delicious is that all three MMCs are best friends and all have a "situationship" with each other. You become aware that these men all like to hunt together, not the traditional waiting-for-a-deer-to-walk-by kind, but the morally black kind that we love to read about. Then, Cali/California (FMC) comes into the picture with her boyfriend, Ben. Without giving spoilers, just know that we do not like him, and he and Cali get into it. She leaves to clear her head and runs into Sawyer, Miles, and Ryder. What Cali does not know is that one of the boys has a warrant and is later arrested off a tip, one that they think she called in. This is where the games begin. If you think this is going to be a slow burn, it's not—the action starts in chapter 6. As you get to know the characters, you see how each one of them is fragmented. In the midst of Miles, Sawyer, and Ryder's toxic interplay, Cali's arrival with her own baggage acts as a catalyst, breaking the deadlock. I ripped through this book in a all-day sitting with a glass of wine
