I appreciate the messages about toxic masculinity and self esteem etc this book tried to impart, but it still mostly felt like a nice young girl putting in a shit ton of work to fix a manchild who should've done that work himself.
Look, I have sympathy for Fox but a man in his 30s is too old to rely on a woman to fix him. Ever heard of a therapist? It's not like he didn't know he had issues. Also, his mom??? She could have easily said all that stuff to him anytime and it would've helped him immensely.
I just felt like this was way too easy of a happy ending. And tbh even with all that I probably would've given 3 stars if it weren't for the fact that I found this book quite slow and difficult to get through, which a romance novel like this should never be imo.
