So the author really named him Beat for the sole purpose of being able to include “there is no Beat without a Melody”, huh? (Also isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? I may be misremembering which one said it)

ANYWAY.

Beat is tortured, broody, angsty, possessive, and just a bit serial killer-y certainly a character in this book. Also got big “went to BYU” ExMo energy from him with the denial (/punishing himself for having sex in the first place) kink and the whole “
planning to propose on live TV after 12ish days of knowing her
thing. That second thing for sure. 

The sex scenes were honestly kind of hard to follow because none of it seemed natural or possible? Like when the mechanics are off. 

All that to say, I did love the movie shown at the beginning of the reunion. That included some really sweet moments and definitely made me feel less weird that they’re two 30 years ago olds who can’t communicate to save their lives and have decided they’re soulmates and just skipping dating altogether. But then the actual ending of the book just made me groan
