The Perfect Child
by Lucinda Berry
This book had so much going for it and then by the end all I could think about was “I hope that there is justice for Hannah.” Nope, because it ends before they go to court. Janie’s character got old really fast (which I feel bad because she is a severely traumatized child) all due to Christopher completely taking her side and gaslighting Hannah to the point of her having a mental breakdown (also hitting her didn’t help). And Piper as a whole was just infuriating because I’m sure there are people in the Department of Child Services that are just like her and it made it seem like she fell head over heels in love with Christopher to the point we’re she was breaking so many rules because of him. I think the author did a great job with keeping the story compelling because there were a bunch of times where I struggled putting the book down because something crazy happened, and she brought each character to life no matter how small they were to the overall story, but the ending really was the determining factor of me giving this 3 stars instead of 4 stars. #JusticeForHannah
