"It's A Love Story" is not my favorite Annabel Monaghan's novel, but it's still really good! I enjoyed reading this story, though it did take a few chapters for me to get into it. The payoff is definitely worth it! The best part of this story is the banter between the main characters, Jane and Dan, who are workplace enemies. I found the set-up to their "enemies" status to be delicious, ripe for tension and potential passion. It's also a breeding ground for laughs. Monaghan writes humor so well. I always find myself chuckling while reading her books. Jane's status as a former child star is an interesting one. This story has a lot to say about stardom, family, career fatigue, reinventing yourself, and finding who you really are. Dan's family dynamic is also really well-written. I could literally see the dinners his family had playing out right in front of my face. Lots of interesting backstories and interpersonal relationships going on here. Monaghan also paints a wonderful picture of Staten Island, from the beaches to the shops to the bars to the bonfires. This is a slower-burning romance, so keep that in mind! All in all, this is a cute, fluffy summertime beach romance that I recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley, Annabel Monaghan, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, and G.P. Putnam's Sons for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
