I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

The title itself caught my interest and I'd dismissed it in the past once I realized and non-fiction. I don't normally read non-fiction, and I was hesitant to read this one but I'm glad I did. It was so powerful.
The emotions portrayed and the story made me feel so many things. Things I related to, but also anger and sadness for the author.
It was so raw. And it was such an important story. The writing style was easy to follow, and I really liked it. While the story was sad and powerful, there was a lightheartedness to it that made it a bit easier to get through and digest.
There were so many important things that were talked about, and especially the realization of abuse. The reluctance to accept abuse because it means that everything you've believed (she just wanted the best for me) was wrong, and that can be jarring.
This was a really amazing read, and has gotten me interested in checking out other non-fiction.
