The Secret Life of Bees
by Sue Monk Kidd
I fell in love with the movie way before I found out it was a book and got lucky enough to thrift it. For the time period it is based on and published it is a good book. It is in the same category as the help for me. Although I must recognize the black savior for what it is. Race is the topic the catalyst the plot along with Lily and her strained relationships. The frankness about depression and suicide I enjoyed especially for an older book. The way we as human cope with our grief and pain is important. I am glad I finally get to have this story.
