The Diary of a Young Girl
by Anne Frank
I knew this book would be touching and sad, but I didn't expect for it to upset me to the extent that it did. I identified with Anne more than I thought I would, since our personalities are a little similar- boisterous and cheerful on the outside, but very sensitive and moody inside. What a lot of wisdom and wit in such a young girl! I had nightmares about her while reading it, and cried quite despairingly at the end. So now I'm feeling depressed and ....sort of raw and tender in my heart, like I can barely hold it together inside. Stupid horrid book! Why does it have to be so perfectly good?
