The last book in the series left us off with Hazel being sent to a mental institution. And for some reason Ayaz had betrayed her. In this book, we start with Hazel defeated, but nothing can keep our girl down for long. As soon as she realizes that she's been tricked, she starts to fight back. I love how strong Hazel is and how she doesn't just roll over an accept things as they are. She's also very loyal and loving. When people make it into her heart she will fiercely protect them.

I feel such loathing for Vincent and the other parents. As a parent myself, I can't imagine anything in the entire world meaning more to me than my children. I think that's what makes them so abhorrent to me. I think it says a lot about the power seekers in the world even in our reality.

Coming into play more and more is the fire that seems to follow Hazel. It's obvious she has this power and she's finally decided to embrace it and that changes everything. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
