When people said, Convince me, she knew it didn’t mean they had an open mind. It meant they had power and wanted to enjoy it a minute.

The Negatives

There were two things that I didn't like about this book.
1. Ending was dragged.
2. The book alternate between multiple timelines, and it was hard to keep up because there were no titles or any other hint to suggest what timeline we were following.

The Positives

The plot is the strongest point of this book. The way the magic works in this world is so terrifyingly real. It made me wonder how media and advertising companies are using our personal data including our psychographics to manipulate us. This story follows two main characters: Emily and Wil. Emily is a student at the school that teaches the art of word magic. At the school she is taught to identify personality types and the words she can use to manipulate different personality types.

Wil along with his kidnapper is on the run from someone named Virgina Woolf. They are trying to survive and also looking for a bareword - a word that can wreck havoc in the wrong hands, a word that defies the rules of word Magic.

These two stories eventually converge and make for a very engrossing and Interesting read. it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

it's one of the best magical realism, I have read this year. I absolutely loved it, despite my two issues with this book, I highly recommend it. This will leave you with a lot of thoughts about our own world and how certain set of words are able overpower us.
