The Love Hypothesis
by Ali Hazelwood
Okay, I had seen multiple people on IG rave about this book and I am so glad I put it on hold because it was so good! Olive is a grad student in STEM and one night kisses the first man she sees near her in the lab building because she'd told her friend she was on a date that night, not at work. Turns out she randomly kissed Dr. Adam Carlson, notorious hard ass professor. To her surprise, he plays along and then offers to fake date her for a while to mutually benefit them. He is Mr. Grumpy who seems to melt under the attention of her Ms. Sunshine, and the more time they spend together, of course Olive feels herself developing a crush on him. But they made a list of rules and feelings are definitely not in line with the plan, which has a soon approaching deadline. Even thought it isn't my deal, the science world was cool to inhabit and the author addresses sexism in the field. She also has an inclusive list of characters, which I appreciated: gay, BIPOC, demi-sexual, possibly neurodivergent (that one is less obvious and may be me reading into it).
