No Judgments by Meg Cabot
2.0

2.8/5 (audiobook)

CW: Natural disaster, sexual assault, animal abuse

No Judgements is what I like to call a fluff read. It has a predictable, sappy romance with family drama and secrets.

I enjoyed the easiness of the read and the setting was unique. I also enjoyed the placement of the animal rescue plot. Something different and fun.

I was, however put off with the main characters attitude. Brie would be pinning over Drew Hartwell one minute, then he would say something to her and she would snap and act like he was the worst human. It got to be a little much for me.

I was also put off by the handling of the assault. It was underplayed, I believe, to show how the other characters perceived it, but even after understanding what happened, Brie's mother still seemed dismissive of it. Ad then the way Brie reacted with the gun go Kyle. That was...surprising to say the least.

I would say if you are looking for a mindless read, this could be a book try, but I wouldn't have super high expectations for it.
