Catching Out
by Nicky James
Nicky James really knows her craft and has gifted us with another masterpiece in the Rail Riders series.
Dodger is his usual go with the flow, brash and forthright self who still doesn’t filter what he says. He’s always believed that there’s a serial killer working the freight lines and collects as much information about it as he can.
Brady is a nerdy, quirky and highly intelligent university student who is also awkward and not good with social cues. He has degrees in Behavioural Science and Forensic Psychology and is in the process of writing his thesis. He also has a tremendous amount of information on the serial killers activities.
They come together to share information and so begins their summer adventure of jumping freight trains to follow in the footsteps of a possible serial killer to collect the evidence needed to present the case to the relevant authorities. Brady is certainly very animated when talking about his passion but does lack in the physical skills department which makes for some hair raising moments when he takes up freight hopping under the tutelage of Dodger.
Dodger and Brady are strongly developed complex characters who make this such an engaging read. The dialogue between them is at times fun and sassy or passionate and fuelled by anger (Dodger’s lack of filter doesn’t help him at times). Despite their differences a bond does develop between them which has Dodger questioning what he’s always believed about himself. After a few ups and downs (Dodger and his lack of filter again) these two wonderful characters get their well deserved HEA with some steamy times thrown in!
This is a very enjoyable bi awakening love story with all the elements of romance, suspense and adventure perfectly balanced. This is book three of the Rail Riders and you really should read the series in order. Highly recommended.
