My Thoughts

Trying Sophie is the first book in the adult contemporary sports romance, Dubline Rugby series by author Rebecca Norinne. I have never read any of Rebecca's books, but I can't pass up a book set in Dublin with Rugby players. One of my favorite sports romance series of all time features a rugby team (by L.H. Cosway & Penny Reid) so I couldn't pass up the first book in a new rugby romance series. And I am super glad that I read Trying Sophie. This was a spicy and sweet sports romance that gave me all the feels and made me super happy while reading it.

Trying Sophie is told in dual narrative between Sophie and Declan's points of view. I loved this aspect of the story. I think it works extremely well in a contemporary romance because it gives you the opportunity to really get to know each character. I love seeing Declan's motivations, backstory and feelings. I loved seeing Sophie's too but I feel sometimes I like seeing the guys point of view even more than the woman's. This is one of those times. Declan and Sophie knew each other as kids, during that pick on the the girl you like phase. Let's just say that Declan's antics impacted Sophie and not in a good way, so when they meet up again as adults, eve though their attraction and chemistry is pretty immediately apparent, another kind of sparks fly. I loved their whole back and forth. Heck, just loved them!

Not only was the romance in Trying Sophie great, but the whole cast of characters were delightful. I loved Sophie's grandparents and I really loved Declan's team mates. I can't wait to read the next books in the series. I can't wait to see all of the teammates stories.

Bottom line: If you are a Rugby fan, or a fan of Penny Reid's rugby series, you will really enjoyed the Dublin Rugby romances. I loved Trying Sophie and it has made me very excited to continue on in the series. Trying Sophie has a romance that is both sweet and spicy, with lots of heart and delightful moments, plus you will fall in love with the whole cast of characters. Trying Sophie was a big win for me.
