Graceling by Kristin Cashore
1.0

[resuming readings i didn't finish in 2019 part 3]

i started graceling for the romance, which had seemed to be a steamy slow burn, but at 50% of the book the characters were already together, with the steam nowhere to be seen. and since fiction about established relationships go against my principles, my only option was to quit the book half away through it.

but with the arrival of a new year and the growth of my list of dnfs in the last one inflating the bitch in my head called anxiety i've decided to pick up graceling again. my shallow excuse for this waste of time (dont get me wrong, i loved the lack of miscommunication. two adults putting out their issues and understanding each other's needs and preferences: beautiful song. but who the fuck finds the established relationship tag on ao3 enjoyable) was that maybe the author had a new plot for the second half of the book and with luck enough i would like it. well, i didn't. and most of the time i couldn't even remember katsa and po were in love. the writing was unable to immerse me in their feelings and relationship or in any other element of the story lmao. therefore, the whole book felt like a random story told by someone emotionaly disconnect with it, and not as a proper fiction book i've spent years wanting to read.
