This was a fantastic depiction of how easily someone impressionable and in just the right circumstances can end up in a cult and committing acts they never would have thought of. Choosing to tell this story from the perspective of a woman looking back on her life was the best way she could have gone about showing the reader how easy it can be to be drawn in by a charismatic leader, such as Charles Manson.
