This was fun at points but honestly most of it wasn’t working for me. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the main characters, and I didn’t particularly like either of them. I liked her a lot more than him but they both annoyed me. He was especially bad because he was a piece of sh*t that acted like and believed he was a good guy.
RANT: He basically stole her whole career when they finished college and then stole the dig that was her life’s work, and got them screwed over in the end because he never told her the details of the dig. He also needed her to solve the whole dig anyway and then didn’t want to put her first on the articles when SHE FOUND EVERYTHING!! He was upset when that is all she wanted from
the bet despite the fact that she should have been first. And yeah, he fixed it in the end but it felt like too little too late.
Anyway, this was really fun at points and I probably would have loved it if it wasn’t a romance despite the fact that I’m romance girlie more than anything else. The plot was good, but his character kind of ruined it for me. I think I might read the second one, because I did enjoy the writing and the plot. Fingers crossed I like the next characters better!
