Geekerella

I first want to say a quick thank you to Penguin Teen / Penguin Random House Canada for sending me a copy of this book - as always, I truly appreciate it!
To be quite honest, I just really was not a huge fan of this book. I really really really wanted to love it. I'm a huge fairy tale fan and Disney fan and the synopsis totally appealed to me. But overall, it was just not my kind of a book.
There were aspects of the book that I enjoyed - namely the characters of Elle and Darien. I really liked the way in which Poston wrote their characters and allowed their stories and perspectives to come through the pages. But the fan-fiction, sci-fy plot line was a really hard thing for me to look past and ultimately led me to bring my rating down. While I tried to look past it for my love of fairy tales, it just didn't work for me.
I'm giving this book 3 out of 5 stars because even though I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, I think that there were some good aspects to it. I would just say that it's probably not a book I would rush to re-read. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a more modern, contemporary retelling of Cinderella and those who have a significant interest in fan-fiction / sci-fy type plot lines.
