I loved the first book in this series and this second book is also great. A lot of kids will probably be able to find connections with one of the many main characters. Mr. Terupt is amazing. I didn't love the Native American storyline and how it wasn't addressed deeper. We hear about Native Americans fighting to get some of their land back and Danielle's family have a farm on part of the land that is in disput. But the only perspective we get is from a white family who has lived on the Land their whole life and how it's not fair to them. It would have been nice to get the Native American history and side. I will change my rating and opinion if the author digs deeper in the next book. but I found myself incredibly frustrated with the language and onesided conversation surrounding this conflict. I will say Danielle mentions because her grandma's doctor is Native that maybe there is more to their story (because he was nice) and her and her brother will be okay no matter what but that's about it. Fingers crossed the author does a better job in the next book addressing this storyline more indepth and does justice to the history and in justice the Native Americans have faced. Because in the book the white farmers are the victims and that doesn't sit well with me.
