We Were Once a Family: A Story of Love, Death, and Child Removal in America
by Roxanna Asgarian
emotional
sad
fast-paced
The background story of this case is absolutely horrifying, which makes it all the more important that Asgarian handle the writing with care and respect for the families of the children involved. It can be difficult to find balance as an outsider, but Asgarian's thorough research and beautiful writing seek to find the space to tell the story that needed to be told.
