Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Reborn, Volume 4 – Sow Wind, Reap Storm
by Sophie Campbell
The Mutanimals finally outgrow their need for Hob and start the hard work of building the support structures Mutant Town needs. Sally’s confrontation with her old teammates (Ray especially) is simultaneously heartbreaking and cathartic, and I like the Turtles’ internal struggles with how they can help their community without putting themselves in positions of power over people. Leo in particular gets some great character exploration as he examines why his family has all found their own networks of friends and relationships but not him. The character work here is something that the TMNT series was lacking for a while, but Sophie Campbell is putting in a lot of hard work to flesh out the Splinter Clan and their relationships. Without a doubt this is my favorite era of the Turtles.
