My Grandfather's Coat
by Jim Aylesworth, Barbara McClintock
This is a book picked for Illinois Reads 2016. This program encourages people to read books by Illinois authors, and picks a wide range each year. Off the bat this is probably not a story I would have picked up, as the cover illustrations do not grab me. But I would have sorely missed out if not for this program. It’s a story about the passing of time, and how everything can find a new purpose no matter how tattered and torn. That a family can be traced in objects that start as one thing, and end as something else.
