Whisper Network by Chandler Baker
4.0

I’m giving Whisper Network four stars after being surprised by the twist at the end.

I can see why a lot of people DNF because the beginning of the book was hard to get through and the prose of book could be annoying to read at times. I did read an ARC version of the book, so I’m not sure if chapter layout changed with the final version.

Whisper Network follows three friends that are corporate lawyers for a fitness clothing company, Sloane, Grace, and Ardie while the navigate the change that could be coming to their company after the death of their CEO. Enter Katharine, a new hire by the General Counsel, and Rosalita, a woman who has been working on the cleaning crew for the company for nine years. Both of these women will have a big impact with deposition proceedings and police investigations. All five of these women are connected to Ames, the general counsel, in different ways.

Whisper Network gets down to the gritty details of sexual harassment in the corporate field, as well as in a middle school (heart breaking). With women out to make sure a guy a with a history to sexual harassment and assault doesn’t make up the next of the company ladder, will they make sure it doesn’t happen?

Another thing addressed that is very timely with current American culture: Men think that the women are out to ruin men’s lives by telling their stories of sexual assault and some women think the women overstep their boundaries to get ahead.
